“ESPN Bet Is PENN’s Latest Media-Brand Play: Last of Its Kind or One That Could Work?”
The Barstool/Penn/ESPN love triangle was one of the biggest stories in the sports betting space over the last month and this was a very well-written article.
Brant James from Gaming Today breaks down the inherit risk that Penn is making by relying solely on the ESPN brand for a successful Sportsbook, which is the same strategy they attempted with Barstool. ESPN is definitely a much bigger brand, but is it doomed for the same fate?

How was BetBash?
We’re a few weeks removed from BetBash and I think it’d be helpful to give details on my experience. For those that don’t know, BetBash is a sports betting networking event hosted by pro bettor, Spanky.
As someone who considers themselves pretty well-versed in sports betting, but definitely not a pro bettor, I didn’t know what to expect when I landed in Vegas for BetBash a few weeks back. I expected to feel out of place while talking to pro bettors who bet $50K a game - and I was completely wrong. While there were plenty of big players there, everyone was welcoming and talked to everyone - even guys like myself. There were plenty of happy hours scheduled which gave you the opportunity to meet and talk to a plethora of people. I spoke with pro bettors, media members, bookmakers, content creators, and just people who enjoy the sports betting industry.
It was a great event that allowed people in the sports betting space to connect and network - even getting the opportunity to meet guys like Billy Walters and Derek Stevens. I’ll definitely be going back next year and if you’re someone who’s on the fence and you’re not sure if you’ll fit in or not - trust me, you’ll fit right in.

Billy Walters’ book was released last week and it’s been a very enjoyable read. I haven’t finished it yet, but there are plenty of entertaining stories. If you’re interested in sports betting - it’s a must read.
